FAQ

Do you screen your teachers?

All our teachers are fully background checked and fingerprinted.

Does my child need to be potty-trained?

Children in our 3's programs and up are required to be potty trained.

How do I drop off my child?

The PLC doors open at 8:55am every morning (Door 5). Please walk your child into the building and drop them off in their classrooms.

How do I pick up my child?

When your vehicle reaches the front of the line your child will be walked out to you. Please secure your child in the vehicle yourself.

Can I tour the school before I decide?

Absolutely! We love to show new families our beautiful classrooms! Ms. Kimby currently schedules tours during non-school hours for safety reasons. Call the office to set up a time or fill out a form here!

What about snow days?

We follow Loudoun County Public Schools for delays and school closings.

Can I visit during the day?

We have an open-door policy for parents, meaning that we love to have parents come in and see what we do, read a story to the class and just be involved. However, we do ask that you schedule visits with your child’s teacher and the office, so that we know who is in the building.

Can I be a room mom?

Yes! Our teachers LOVE their room moms! They are involved in all our party planning and special events. However, we are currently not allowing our room moms inside the building. Our room moms work with our teachers and Ms. Kimby to plan all of our fun events. If you cannot commit to being a room mom, we offer several other volunteer opportunities. Talk to your child's teacher to learn more!

What size of backpack does my child need?
A standard elementary-sized backpack is requested to ensure that weekly folders and other materials can fit. No rolling backpacks, please. Don't forget a lunchbox and water bottle!

Are you a nut-free facility?
We are not nut-free, but do take food allergies seriously. Please speak with the director for plans to protect your child.

Should my child pack lunch?
Yes! Students eat lunch at school with their peers in every class.

Will my child attend chapel?
Yes! Students attend an interactive chapel service each Thursday.

How else can I support the school?
There are many ways to support PLC. Consider joining our parent organization, PAATCH (Parents And Teachers Together for Children) which has different committees and volunteer opportunities to support our school. Become a room parent! Ask your teacher how you can support within the class room!
